The first two ZoukFest 2007 raffle instruments (Herb Taylor flattop bouzouki & G.D. Armstrong resophonic bouzouki) are with their lucky winning owners, but now you have a chance to win two more custom beauties. Only 100 tickets at $40 each will be sold. Drawings will be double blind — after a winning ticket is drawn from the pool of 100 raffle tickets, a lot will be drawn to determine which of the instruments is awarded. Bill Bussmann Melon Octave Mandolin

Third Raffle InstrumentThe World’s First & Only Melon shaped Octave Mandolin. 21.5” scale. Carved Colorado Engelmann Spruce top (harvested near the headwaters of the Navajo river in 1998). X braced with Adirondack Spruce. One-piece Carved Hard Red Maple back. Curly Maple sides. Curly Maple neck. 24 fret, 16 inch radius Ebony fretboard. Ebony peghead veneer. “F” style Schaller mandolin tuners. Maple and Ebony adjustable bridge. Bison femur bone nut. Randy Allen cast tailpiece (ball end strings). Custom Melon oil paint job by international folk artist Bonita Barlow of Hualapai, AZ.

This instrument sounds utterly unique. Very clear and open with a lot of bass for such a small body. Designated value: $3,500 USD.

Fourth Raffle Instrument4 course Electric Bouzouki. Solid Alder Body. Maple neck. 22 fret Ebony fretboard. Custom bridge. 2 Kent Armstrong mini humbuckers, coil tap switched with a push-pull tone knob. EMG Afterburner tone circuit switched with a push-pull tone knob. 3 position pickup selector switch. Gotoh tuners. Finish is catalyzed urethane with custom ZoukFest Calaveras Band in chameleon paints. Terrapin gig bag.

This is one smokin’ hot zoukrod. Sounds great in GDGD, especially with a slide, but is also suitable for GDAD, ADAD and GDAE tunings. If you’ve ever aspired to be the zouk world’s James Hetfield, Billy Gibbons, or George Thorogood, then this is your axe! Designated value: $1,100 USD.

The Rules

• Only 100 tickets will be sold at $40 each. This is a combined raffle, so every ticket has two chances to win. Your odds are one-in-a-hundred for the first drawing, and (unless you win the first drawing) one-in-ninety-nine for second drawing!

• Drawings will be double blind—after a winning ticket is drawn from the pool of 100 raffle tickets, a lot will be drawn to determine which of the instruments is awarded. Then a second winning raffle ticket will be drawn from the remaining 99 tickets for the next instrument.

• Drawings will be held after 100 tickets are sold. The drawing date and time will be announced to all ticket holders via email as well as by posting details on the ZoukFest website.

• Winning ticket holders need not attend drawing to win. If not present at drawings, winners will be notified by email and phone within 24 hours after of the drawing. Winning ticket holders are responsible for cost of shipping the instruments, if necessary.
